The limits of what is published here
We take accuracy seriously and cite our sources so you can check them — the standard we hold ourselves to is set out in the editorial policy. We cannot guarantee that every page is complete or current at the moment you read it, that a product is still sold or still listed, or that a standard has not been revised since our last review of a page.
Installation and use of fire and carbon monoxide equipment is your responsibility and must follow the manufacturer’s instructions for your specific model, which take precedence over anything written here. In an emergency, leave the building and call 911.
Liability
The site and its content are provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Magoo Media Group is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive damages arising from your use of this site or from any action taken in reliance on it.
Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
Products and retailers
We do not sell anything. Product links take you to third-party retailers, and we are not a party to any transaction you make with them. Price, availability, shipping, warranty and returns are between you and the retailer.
We earn affiliate commission on some of those links, disclosed above the first affiliate link on every monetized page and in full on the affiliate disclosure page. We display no prices, because we do not cache them.
Content and copyright
The text, scoring, tables and original graphics on this site — including the room-by-room placement diagram — are the copyright of Magoo Media Group. Product names, brands and trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used for identification only; no endorsement or affiliation is implied by their appearance here.
You may reuse the placement diagram, the home fire safety checklist and the escape plan template for non-commercial fire-safety education — a fire department handout, a landlord association mailing, a school project — with attribution to Siren & Safe and a link to the page you took it from. Ask us if you want to use them commercially and the conversation will be a short and friendly one.
Otherwise, please do not republish substantial portions of the site. A quotation with attribution and a link is always welcome.
Acceptable use
Do not attempt to interfere with the site or its infrastructure, scrape it at a rate that degrades it for other readers, or use the contact form to send bulk or automated messages. The form is rate-limited, which is why you may see a “too many submissions” message if you genuinely need to send several messages in an hour — wait, or email directly.
Links out
We link to NFPA, UL Solutions, CPSC, the CDC, the US Fire Administration and manufacturer documentation because those are the sources our claims rest on. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, which is also true of the retailers our product links reach.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Material changes will move the last-reviewed date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Magoo Media Group is established, without regard to conflict of laws principles.
